Reiki and Sound Healing at Hot Yoga Glasgow

Having the pleasure of working at Hot Yoga Glasgow, it has been impossible to ignore the harmony between yoga and energy work.

Yoga and Reiki share much common ground. Both are wonderful holistic practices that promote well-being, focusing on the interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit. Both emphasize energy flow, mindfulness, and spiritual growth, contributing to balanced living and personal transformation.

Here's a more detailed look at their similarities:

Holistic Practices

Holistically, yoga encompasses physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), meditation, and mindfulness, aiming to harmonize the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of a person.

Reiki balances and revitalizes energy fields, which are interconnected with physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Reiki practitioners use hand placements to facilitate the flow of energy, promoting healing, relaxation and transformation.

Energy Flow

Both Practices are all about good energy flow and I always say, what you can't clear one way, you can always clear another.

Yoga emphasizes the concept of "prana" (vital energy) and its flow through the body.

Reiki focuses on the universal life force energy ("ki" in Japanese), vital for health and well-being. Reiki practitioners channel this energy to promote healing and balance within a person's energy fields.

Mindfulness and Meditation

Mindfulness and Meditation are the great gifts of yoga practice. Yoga often incorporates mindfulness practices, such as meditation and focused attention, to cultivate a sense of presence and awareness of the present moment.

When in a reiki session the most wonderful visions can come through the relaxation provided through reiki. During a Reiki session, brainwave activity typically shifts into the alpha state, characterized by frequencies between 8 and 12 Hz. This alpha state is associated with deep relaxation, meditation, and a sense of calm.

Path of Awakening

Yoga is a path to spiritual exploration and self-discovery, encouraging practices like meditation and introspection to deepen one's understanding of oneself and the world.

Reiki promotes inner peace, self-awareness, and a sense of unity consciousness and is a wonderful support for your spiritual awakening enabling you to get into spaces within your consciousness where you have previously felt blocked.

Kinship Between Practices

Reiki can enhance the benefits of yoga by deepening relaxation and promoting the release of tension, which can be helpful for achieving deeper levels of physical and emotional well-being.

Yoga can be a valuable tool for preparing the body and mind to receive the healing energy of Reiki.
